Mr. Schietzelt received a BS from Sacred Heart University in 1999 and a Juris Doctorate from Fordham Law School in 2002 where, by vote of his peers, he received the prestigious Phillip R. Fusco Memorial Award for campus leadership. Since the start of his career, Mr. Schietzelt’s practice has focused solely on litigation and trial work with several seven-figure verdicts to his credit. He holds a perfect “10 of 10” rating on the AVVO lawyer directory and has received recognition in multiple mediums, including being named to Superlawyers magazine’s “Rising Stars” list, an honor bestowed upon the top attorneys in the NYC metro area under 40 from 2013 to present. He has also appeared on The New York Times Magazine’s “Top Attorneys” list for the NYC Metro area and was named one of the “10 Best under 40” by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys in 2016.
Mr. Schietzelt currently holds a teaching position at Sacred Heart University, where he is a Professor of Law and Ethics. Additionally, he has spoken at industry and scholastic events on topics ranging from ethics to litigation strategy. He has been quoted on legal issues by major media outlets such at the New York Daily News and The New York Post and understands how to delicately deal with sensitive issues and the publicity that some cases generate.
Mr. Schietzelt’s dedication to service extends beyond the office. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Urban Assembly Gateway School For Technology in Manhattan, a school focused on preparing students from low income backgrounds for jobs in the Information Technology and Software Engineering fields through the provision of scholarships, mentoring and corporate partnerships. Mr. Schietzelt also sits on the Institutional Review Board at his alma mater, Sacred Heart University, with the task of overseeing the ethical issues arising from applications for human trials in research endeavors.
Mr. Schietzelt is an avid surfer and fitness enthusiast. He played on the varsity volleyball team at Division I Sacred Heart University and subsequently transitioned to playing beach volleyball on various professional and semi-professional U.S. tours after his undergraduate degree.
